Local cancer care experts and stakeholders are leading efforts to address Arequipa’s specific needs and build the city’s capacity to improve cancer care for all its residents.

Availability of cancer care services
Arequipa is addressing key gaps in cancer care availability, particularly in diagnostic services, medical oncology, and radiotherapy. Efforts are underway to improve access to services such as pathology, chemotherapy, and surgery, with C/Can supporting the development of essential infrastructure and resources to ensure timely treatment for cancer patients.

The city is working to streamline cancer care management and improve the professional training of healthcare workers. C/Can, alongside local stakeholders, is collaborating to strengthen the capacity of medical professionals, enhance the efficiency of care services, and ensure that patients benefit from a more coordinated health system.
