Lisa is a Cancer Epidemiologist and Health Systems Expert with 10 years of experience in Global Health. At C/Can, she ensures that technical cooperation activities are technically sound, context-sensitive and integrated into the local health system.
Prior to C/Can, Lisa worked at the International Atomic Energy Agency, supporting Member States assess their national capacity to respond to the cancer burden. She acted as an expert to support the development of WHO/AFRO guidelines on integration of breast and cervical cancer management at primary care level. Prior to the UN, Lisa worked in academia where her research merged public health, cancer control, and human rights law. She holds a PhD in Epidemiology and Public Health from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and an LLM in International Law and Human Rights from Maastricht University.
Passionate about health equity and people-centred approaches to care, she interviewed women with breast cancer in several continents and showed their stories in the photo exhibition “The People Behind the Numbers” reported in The Lancet Oncology.
