C/Can Horizon

What is C/Can Horizon?

C/Can Horizon is a new C/Can initiative that enables health systems to access targeted implementation support to accelerate cancer care systems improvements

Building on proven experiences from C/Can’s Core Cities, Horizon offers focused, fit-for-purpose engagement and solution implementation in priority areas of cancer care, tailored to local needs and readiness.

From Core Cities to Horizon Cities

Horizon Cities are health systems ready to accelerate progress by adopting and adapting proven, high-impact solutions to address priority gaps in cancer care.

These solutions are grounded in the experience of C/Can Core Cities, where C/Can works alongside cities’ stakeholders to co-develop, test and validate approaches to strengthening cancer care systems

Together, these pathways ensure that work works locally can be adapted, applied, and scaled across new geographies and contexts.

How it Works

We bring solutions co-developed and validated in C/Can’s Core Cities and adapt them to new contexts, building on what has already been shown to work in real health systems.

Each intervention is selected based on local demand, system gaps and city readiness, ensuring efforts are focused where they can make the greatest difference.

By working with local stakeholders and embedding solutions in existing systems, C/Can Horizon helps cities achieve lasting improvements in cancer care delivery.

Priority Areas of Support

C/Can Horizon focuses on delivering targeted, high-impact solutions that address critical bottlenecks in cancer care delivery. Depending on local priorities, this can include:

  • Strengthening pathology and imaging diagnostics systems
  • Building multi-disciplinary approaches
  • Standardising patient pathways and design referral and clinical navigation systems
  • Expanding oncology workforce capacity
  • Facility-based system assessment and local action planning

Every Health System is Different, Yet Commonalities Exist.

Our team is available to discuss your challenges and co-create the right solution.

“Cities in Indonesia have neither the time nor the resources to experiment; they need effective and efficient implementation solutions to address the growing cancer burden. As a local implementer, Universitas Gadjah Mada benefits from knowing what has worked in other contexts and how it was done, allowing us to better respond to our local needs.”

“National cancer plans and health system strengthening strategies must become a reality on the ground so patients can receive the care they deserve. After 10 years of designing, testing, and refining implementation approaches with cities, expanding proven solutions to new contexts has become a core part of C/Can’s mission.”
