City project

Strengthening the city’s blood bank network

Cali strengthens education and professional training programmes in cancer care
Completion as of Mar 31, 2023
Project lead

The challenge

Blood banks in Cali often lack the capacity to meet demand for plasma and blood components. This problem is compounded by a shortage of regular blood donors.

The goal

To improve the quantity, safety and availability of blood components.

By organising a voluntary blood donation programme.

As well as raising awareness about the need for blood donors, the most important achievement of this project was the creation of a working group between the city’s blood banks. This has allowed us to collaborate more effectively to meet Cali’s needs.
