The challenge

The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) is the only hospital in the region with a full range of multidisciplinary teams (MDTs). These teams meet patients in person at the hospital to discuss management pathways. Other hospitals, however, have at most one or two members of the MDT present their cases via phone conversations, which hinders the creation of clear, consistent health plans.

The goal

To provide a digital platform for MDT case presentation and, by extension, provide an opportunity for cases in peripheral facilities to benefit from a full MDT team.

Impact / Achievements

Functional MDT practices have been extended to other peripheral facilities, data has been captured digitally and fed directly into the cancer registry, and collaboration has been fostered between facilities in patient and case management.

Outputs

  • Operational digital platform for multidisciplinary teams (MDT) case presentation.
